I enjoyed this story, Ben. Travel does so much for us apart from just seeing a different country. You conveyed the sense of that very well, and now I want to go to Morocco 😉
Travel is the one thing I am so so grateful to have done (and hopefully still do!) in my life. As you say, it's so much more than just seeing a different country. It's a continual process of willing to put into question what you already know. Of being open and receptive.
Love this, Ben. Really evocative (and it reminds me of my first solo journey in a foreign country). "I had to prove to him that I wasn’t alone to the world." – that's a lovely insight... funny how reluctant we are to appear vulnerable.
Happy to hear it resonated, Theo! Yes, we tend to be reluctant to show vulnerability. Which is funny because it's often what opens doors to new experiences.
Where was your first solo trip? What do you remember from it?
Switzerland, on a bike for a week. 15 years ago but I feel like I remember every moment. The discovery of freedom and self-reliance was hugely important for me. And a feeling of trepidation/excitement which I picked up in your words too.
That's so cool. Definitely a mix of nerves and excitement. Just before going on the trip, it's nerves, which quickly flips into excitement as soon as the foot's out the door.
I've always wanted to do a bike trip. You have any good pointers?

Thanks for your comment, Amy.
